This quick-start guide walks you through setting up your TreZor® hardware wallet, securing your recovery seed, and safely managing cryptocurrencies with confidence.

What is TreZor®?

TreZor® is a hardware wallet that stores the private keys used to secure your cryptocurrencies offline. By keeping keys on a dedicated device, TreZor® dramatically reduces exposure to online threats while giving you full control of your funds.

Why use a hardware wallet?

Cold storage — private keys never leave the device.
Open-source firmware — cryptographic transparency and regular audits.
Multi-asset support — Bitcoin, Ethereum, ERC-20 tokens, and many more.

Before you begin

Unbox your official device and make sure the packaging is sealed. Only set up your TreZor® using the official Trézor.io/start page and the TreZor® Suite app. Avoid third‑party download links or unofficial tools.

Step 0 — Verify

Confirm the device tamper-evident seal is intact. If anything looks suspicious, contact support before proceeding.

Step 1 — Charge & Connect

Use the supplied cable to connect your TreZor® to a computer. The device draws power from USB — no battery charge required.

Step-by-step setup

Follow these steps carefully. Don’t rush — the safety of your funds depends on proper setup.

Go to the official start page: Open Trézor.io/start and follow the link to download TreZor® Suite (official app).
Install TreZor® Suite: Run the installer for your operating system and open the app.
Initialize your device: The Suite will guide you to create a new wallet or recover an existing one. Choose Create new if this is your first time.
Write down your recovery seed: Your TreZor® will display a 12–24 word recovery seed. Write these words down on the provided recovery card — never store them digitally.
Set a PIN: Create a PIN on the device. This protects against physical attackers who obtain your device.

After these steps your device will be ready to receive funds. Always confirm addresses on the device screen before sending money.

Security best practices

Never share your recovery seed. TreZor® support will never ask you for your seed words.
Keep multiple backups. Store copies of the recovery seed in separate secure locations (e.g., home safe, safety deposit box).
Beware of phishing. Always type Trézor.io/start directly or use bookmarks. Check the URL and TLS padlock.
Use strong PINs. Avoid obvious sequences; longer PINs are safer.

Managing coins & apps

TreZor® Suite includes an app manager that lets you install support for specific blockchains. Install only the apps you need — this keeps your device lean and simple to use.

When receiving funds, always verify the receiving address shown in TreZor® Suite against the address displayed on your TreZor® device screen. The device screen is the single source of truth.

If you run into issues, the official support pages and knowledge base provide step-by-step help. Keep your recovery seed handy (but never type it into a computer) — it’s required only for recovery, not routine use.
